	Futons are simple: the durability, quality, and comfort of a futon depends entirely on the quality of materials used and the assembly process. Every futon Cotton Cloud Futons sells was either handmade by us, or made by another top-of-the-line manufacturer. Below is a list of the materials that are used to craft the futon matresses we sell.


		Conventional Cotton Most futons are manufactured using conventionally-grown cotton. Cotton is a renewable resource that is biodegradable, acts as an insulator, provides a dense layer of padding, and conforms to the body. Our cotton is treated with boric acid powder, which acts as a flame retardant. This powder is safe and is used in many other every-day products, such as pharmaceuticals, topical medicines, and even contact lens solution. Borates are naturally occurring minerals, essential to plants, and part of a healthy diet, and no more toxic than table salt. Boric acid-treated cotton batting provides not only the benefits of durability, comfort, and safety, but also may offer some level of protection for those who suffer allergies from irritants such as mold, mildew, and dust mites.

		Organic Cotton Our “Sublime” futon is hand-crafted using organically-grown cotton, which is ideal for people who have extreme chemical sensitivities. Ours is 100% certified organically-grown cotton, without boric acid powder or mineral oil. Why choose organic? Organic farming does not employ synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, making organically-grown cotton a clean, pure, toxin-free, and natural product. Furthermore, organic farming results in sustainable, healthy soil management that reduces erosion and run-off. The only drawback to organic cotton is that, like all organic products, the labor-intensive process increases the price. But Cotton Cloud Futons believes the cost is justified, and we are working toward incorporating more organically-grown cotton into our products .

		Quality Of Wool We use only the highest quality wool from Natural Felt Co. Our wool batting is an ideal component of high quality natural bedding.Natural Felt Co. provides us clean premium quality wool that is a product of the pacific north west. Our wool is gorgeous, strong, durable and chemical free.

		Polyurethane Foam - Solid Cotton Cloud uses only high-density foam in our futons. Our polyurethane foam has a density of 1.8 pounds per square foot, which provides the perfect combination of durability and comfort. A foam core helps add support to a futon, which allows it to maintain its shape when being used as a couch. Our foam is so durable that when we re-layer futons, some of which are over 10 years old, we normally find that while the cotton needs to be replaced, the foam core is intact.Solid foam, provides a dense core that provides ideal lumbar support in our futon bed matresses

		WellspringTM Fiber Wellspring™ fiber (used in the #5 Wellspring Supreme) is a revolutionary material that makes use of recycled polyethylene, most commonly found in 2-liter soda bottles. The fiber is clean, odor free, non-allergenic, and very resilient. Additionally, it looks and feels incredibly like cotton: fluffy, soft, and very finely textured. Wellspring™ fibers are also very light, which allows their mattresses to be moved easily.

		Latex Cotton Cloud’s latex mattresses are made with 100% natural Latex that is safely harvested from the Hevea Brasiliensis tree. This process is eco-friendly and is similar to harvesting Maple Syrup. The tree is not harmed in any way. Natural Latex provides the perfect balance of comfort and support so you can enjoy deep, sound sleep night after night. Latex instantaneously conforms to the shape of your body, gently supporting and comforting you all night long, with up to 33% more pressure relief than other foam bedding. All HT latex foam is SGS Certified as being Anti-Bacterial and free from harmful chemicals and pollutants

		Innerspring Innerspring futon mattresses contain a combination of springs and foam layers, which work together to ensure a good night’s sleep. The Spring Aire by Gold Star uses two pounds high density foam and specially-blended cotton surrounding a flexible multi-coil insert. A specially-designed helical along the center line allows for easy conversion from sofa to bed and back.

		Conventional Futon Shell Casing Cotton Cloud Futons uses 7oz cotton/poly canvas for our cases. Our case manufacturer uses only the highest quality materials. Cotton Cloud futon cases feature three-sided zippers, which allows us to easily re-layer your futon when it reaches the end of its comfortable life.
